The opening production for the No Boundaries Youth Theater tenth anniversary season will be Men Have Called Me Mad, an original script by Rae Johnson created in The POEtry Project with teens of NBYT. The play is based on the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe (1809 –1849) an American writer best known for his poetry and short mystery and horror stories. The script follows a young writer who moves into Poe’s Baltimore home in 1949 in order to help prepare the site for its public opening as a museum and writers’ house. The people and situations the writer finds there—both real and imaginary—are based on Poe, people in his life, and characters from his works.
The script will be preformed as a theatrical staged reading with two performances.
