Hi NBYT participants and families,
We are writing to you to give you the next update. We are working behind the scenes to keep NBYT going through this crisis by applying for grants and also having a strong online presence on Facebook. Have you seen the daily theater activities? Try some out and let us know in the comments on the posts.
As of now, with gatherings limited to less than 5 people, schools closed until 4/20, and non-profits asked to be closed until 4/22 (which includes us and our home building, South Church) we can’t do anything but sit at home and wait. We will continue to review and update on a bi-weekly basis, with our next meeting scheduled for 4/13 after which we’ll provide a fresh update.
For Hobbit and Seas The Day (Mermaid) we ask that you keep practicing your lines and your blocking. Ms. Nicki has a few back up plans in place for us to get some sort of performance in for both shows. They might not go on as full productions (maybe dramatic staged readings), they might happen in our limited rehearsal space, they might happen on later weekends. Once we know more from the state we can have a solid plan in place, but know we are coming up with solutions. Everyone has worked so hard and we know you want to put on a show and we will be here to help do that in whatever way we can.
For Saturday classes, which were supposed to start 4/4, these are not going to happen as planned. We hope these classes we had scheduled will run with the special guest teachers in the fall.
We are looking at doing drop in zoom theater classes, and once we have more info on how and when that will happen we will let you know. Possible classes being considered:
Ages 6-10 Bringing Stories to life: around the World in 8 weeks
Ages 11-18 Sonnet work
All Ages Family improv
For our Homeschool rep class, please practice your lines and blocking at home. As soon as we are able to we will finish up our last three classes.
We miss you and hope you are all safe and comfortable. Reach out if you need anything. We are here.
