NBYT is hiring an Artistic Director to co-lead the organization with the current Executive Director.
Artistic Director is a leadership and administrative position that includes directing two to three productions each season plus teaching Saturday, homeschool, and in-school classes and other classes and programs as planned. The position also involves planning, programming, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, supervising staff and volunteers, communicating with many people, networking, assisting with marketing and promotions, and assisting with fundraisers and soliciting donations. The Artistic Director may also assist with website and registration site updates.
The position is part-time with approximately ten administrative hours per week in addition to hours spent in rehearsal, classes, and program preparation. Flexibility with daytime hours is helpful for scheduling meetings and in-school programs. Evening rehearsal and Saturday teaching availability is required.
A small base salary will be paid plus an hourly rate for classes. Directing two to three productions per year is included in the base salary amount.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in directing, teaching, and working with children and teenagers. A degree is theater or theater education is preferred.

Founded in 2010 as New Britain Youth Theater and selected by Connecticut Magazine as Connecticut’s Best Children’s Theater in 2017, No Boundaries Youth Theater is a professionally-run community and educational theater for children and teens. The name change in 2018 reflects that NBYT is—and always has been—a youth theater that accepts children from all towns and communities, with all abilities, and to be involved in a variety of ways both onstage and off.
