NBYT’s next production for ages 13 to 20 will be William Shakespeare’s tropical romantic comedy and last play, The Tempest. Set at sea and on a remote island, our production will be inspired by the Connecticut whaling industry of the nineteenth century.
Auditions will be in February, and performances in June. Join us in December to read and discuss the play and prepare for auditions.
Actors and others are invited to attend whether or not you’re planning to audition, or even if you’re not sure yet. Or maybe you’d just enjoy reading and discussing the play. Or maybe you want to know more about Shakespeare for school or just because you’re a really smart person.
Workshop Dates: Wednesdays, December 12 & 19
Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Location: NBYT Studio Theater at the YMCA, 362 Main Street, Berlin
Instructors: Co-Directors Brooke Ferguson and Carmine Lavieri and Artistic Director Darren Farrington
Participants are encouraged to bring their own copy of the play, but may also share or borrow a copy at the workshops. Annotated copies such as the the No Fear Shakespeare edition are recommended, but any copy—including e-book—is acceptable. For production however, an edited version of the play will be rehearsed and performed.
Participation is encouraged, but not required, for anyone planning to audition in February. Registration is not required, but would be appreciated for us to have an estimate of the attendance. To register or get more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 860-515-8115.
