An Early-Winter Midsummer Night’s Dream Workshop
Planning to audition for the NBYT Teen Company production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and you don’t know much about the play? Or maybe you want to know more about Shakespeare for school or just because you’re a really smart person.
No problem! We’ve got you covered.
This January, in a three-week workshop for ages 12 through 18*, participants will explore characters, language, and themes of William Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The workshop will give special attention to understanding the characters and plot, understanding the setting of the original script and modern productions, discussing the language and poetry of the text, and recognizing the comedy in the text, all in preparation for March auditions for a June production. Participants will also read and have the opportunity to perform scenes from the play, and may be involved in cutting the text for performance.
Dates: January 10, 17, 24 (Snow Date January 31)
Time: 10:00 am to 12:00 noon
Cost: $40 for all three weeks ($15 for one week/$30 for two weeks)
Instructor: Nicki LaPorte
Participation is encouraged, but not required, for anyone planning to audition in March. To register or get more information, email info@nbyt.org or call 860-515-8115.
* Younger or older participants may register with permission of the Executive Director and Instructor
