Summer Improv Workshops
Do you want to learn the basics of improv or improve some stage skills?
Come to NBYT’s improv workshops—for middle school and high school students—and help to begin a Teen Improv Group!
Improvisation workshops are designed to give participants a basic understanding of improvisational theater concepts such as story building, environmental awareness, saying “yes,” and making and accepting dramatic offers. The group will be introduced to short-form improv games designed to build teamwork and reinforce the basic concepts. No prior experience in theater or improv is necessary, but those already familiar with improv will be challenged to expand their skills.
A short performance will be held at the end of the final workshop and will be open to family and friends at no cost. All participants will also be welcome to help form a Teen Improv Group and continue to perform.
Offered: Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Dates: July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6 and 13
Location: NBYT at the Y, 50 High Street, New Britain
Instructor: Carmine Lavieri
Cost: $10 per workshop / $50 for all six weeks
