The NYBT Teen Company will be performing Any Dream will Do on November 22, 23 and 24 at Trinity-on-Main Performance Center.

The musical revue includes well known songs from some of children’s favorite stories such as Willy Wonka’s Pure Imagination, Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz, and even Cinderella’s famous song It’s Possible. Many of the songs were chosen by the cast themselves which makes the play a lot more personable. Musical director Angela Klimaytis says, “As we get older, we become so disheartened about our dreams. It’s important to keep dreams alive.” As I sat down and spoke with her, she told me that the play is universal, so much in fact that it is a play the whole audience can relate to. Between songs are famous and inspirational quotes about the power of dreams. Choreographer and stage director Alison Bogatay also share her experiences working with the teens. “It’s a pleasure working with this group,” she said. “They are all so talented.” Taking a break from rehearsing, the teens shared heartwarming dreams and inspirations that brought a tear to Alison’s eyes. Some of them spoke about dreams of getting on Broadway and attending Julliard, a performing arts school in New York City. The NBYT program is building their confidence and creating a foundation for them to continue in the field of performing arts.
