Auditions Announced for SUPER DUCK!

Super Duck logoNBYT will audition children ages 6 through 9 for Super Duck on Sunday, September 8, and Monday, September 9, 2013, at Trinity-on-Main Performance Center Annex at 19 Chestnut Street in New Britain.  Hours both days begin at 6:00 p.m.  For children cast, rehearsals will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays. The production will be performed in Stockman Hall at Trinity-on-Main on November 8, 9 and 10, 2013.

In Super Duck, by Brian D. Taylor, the tale of the Ugly Duckling is told with a super hero, action-packed twist complete with mysterious beginnings, feats of super strength, and comical villains! Roles include  Cluck the duck and other ducks, geese, chickens, swans, a farmer, the evil Dr. Tabby Clawslice, and sidekick Squishy the Worm. The production will be directed by Brooke Ferguson and Christina LoBello.

Super Duck is the first play in the new Young Kids on Stage! series, which NBYT created to give young actors more opportunities to perform. “Like cartoons and comic books,” says NBYT Executive Director and Producer Darren Farrington, “Super Duck has a lot of humor and comical references that will appeal to adults as well as kids.”

Both boys and girls between ages 6 and 9 are encouraged to audition. All levels of experience are welcome, and auditions are open to children from any town. No prepared monologue is required, but those auditioning will be asked to repeat lines or read from the play. Those cast will be asked to pay a participation fee of $60, but will receive two complimentary tickets for the production. No child or family, however, will be turned away for inability to pay, so please ask about financial assistance if necessary. Older children age 13 and up may also call with interest in stage crew and technical positions.
