On March 26, NBYT will begin a spring term of Saturday morning acting classes for ages 4 through 14. In Act Your Age!, for ages 4 through 7, kids are allowed to act like kids…or act like dragons, princesses, forest animals or superheroes! This introduction to performance will use stories children know—fairy tales and folktales—to teach them about characters, story beginnings and endings, and how a story is told and performed. Games and activities will let these youngest actors try out various roles on stage. The class meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for eight weeks at Trinity-on-Main in downtown New Britain.
In Acting 101, for ages 8 through 14, actors will explore voice, movement and improvisation as they develop focus and concentration and learn to work together as a group. Children will identify characters and parts of a story, and will act out activities, emotions, and roles in each story. This class meets from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. for eight weeks also at Trinity-on-Main. Both classes will end with a Share Day for invited family and friends. The cost for each eight-week term is $100.00 per student, but families who send a first birthday card to NBYT can take ten percent off the cost of spring classes! All classes are open to children from any town or school.
